About

S&B Roofing & Exteriors is a Keller, Texas roofing and exterior contractor working across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The Better Business Bureau records the business as starting on 6 May 2003 and lists Terry W. Fletcher as President/Owner, with Cheryl L. Fletcher as Director of Business Development. The company operates from 525 Keller Parkway in Keller (Tarrant County) and describes itself as family owned. The same business also appears under the older trading name S&B Roofing and Remodeling on several third party directories. The work is a mix of residential and commercial. On its own site the company lists roof replacement, roof repair, roof inspections, commercial roofing, insurance claims support and emergency storm response, and it names architectural and impact-resistant shingles for steep-slope work plus TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen and metal systems for commercial low-slope roofs. Its BBB profile adds gutters, siding, exterior painting, fencing, garage doors and concrete, so a homeowner can reasonably expect a broader exterior scope than roofing alone. Two manufacturer credentials check out on the manufacturers' own directories. CertainTeed lists the company as a ShingleMaster since 2022, and Owens Corning lists it as a Preferred Contractor. It has also been BBB Accredited since 18 June 2013 with an A+ rating. Texas has no state roofing licence, so those manufacturer listings, the BBB record and RCAT membership are the checkable trust signals here. Claims of 35 plus years of combined experience and 2,500 plus completed projects come from the company's own marketing and are stated by the company.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Arlington registers roofing companies in its general contractor category; its published dataset carries no registration number and no expiry date, and the dataset itself may lag by some months.. This company appears on the city's own list of registered contractors. The city publishes no certificate number or expiry date for this programme, so ask to see the registration itself before work starts.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0515 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Amazing team at S&B! They’ve done our Christmas exterior lights the past two years and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. They also installed ours and several of my neighbors cedar fence and posts - excellent workmanship. Highly recommend!

Inspections had determined our old roof was at the end of it’s life and it happened to be in the last weeks before closing on the sale of our house when we went to schedule with S&B. Cheryl, Terry, and Brandon were so accomodating and understanding of our needs! We were stressed that all the work needed couldn’t be done in such a short time. They did their best and came through for us, quickly completing the roof replacement and all the misc repairs that were needed, giving us the best service and experience possible even within the shortest timeline. They were thorough, so friendly and helpful. We really felt cared for, the repairs & roof were well done! ((PHOTOS provided by S&B Roofers))

We hired Shawn and Brandon because we knew their father Terry and mother Sheryl who once owned this business. After our project was complete we discovered numerous vents had failed to be reconnected. I’m in my 70s so I don’t enter my attic as often as I once did so the error was not discovered until an HVAC installer noted potentially dangerous gases could be trapped in the attic. Later, we also discovered a 75’ run of gutter without a single downspout! This prompted me to hire a more experienced Keller roofing company to inspect their work and several more errors were found where flashing was not installed, sealant ignored and remnants from the tear off were left behind leaving areas where water from a valley was diverted into the home causing black mold in several areas. I am extremely disappointed that we would be treated this way. We notified Brandon and he insisted he would be back to review and fix the issue. It has now been over a year and he has yet to follow up. Please be careful if you are considering S&B. They went from being run by experts who loved the craft to inheritors who only care about the numbers.

I had an outstanding experience with S&B Roofing from start to finish. From the very beginning, I received thoughtful guidance that helped me make the right decisions and move forward with confidence. S&B Roofing took the time to thoroughly assess the situation and stayed persistent through Insurance challenges to ensure the job was done right. Their support and follow-through made all the difference, and without them, I wouldn’t have a new roof today. The work itself was excellent. The roof was replaced in just one day, new gutters were installed that look even better than the originals, and a professional painter was brought in to take care of the fence. They made the entire process extremely easy for me, and I was kept well informed every step of the way. I’m know there are many roofing companies out there, but my experience with S&B Roofing was truly exceptional. Their professionalism, persistence, and attention to detail set them apart. I highly recommend them.

We have used S&B Roofing for multiple house projects and were incredibly satisfied! Every time we had a question Brandon always was quick to answer and was extremely professional and courteous. They are simply the absolute best roofing and fencing business we have ever done business with and will continue to do business with them in the future!

Frequently asked

Is S&B Roofing & Exteriors licensed by the State of Texas?
No, and no roofer is. Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so nobody in Texas can hold one. What you can check instead is insurance, RCAT membership, manufacturer credentials and any city or county registration. S&B is listed by RCAT as a Member and appears on both the CertainTeed and Owens Corning contractor directories.
What does RCAT Member mean, and is it the same as being a Licensed Roofing Contractor?
No. RCAT (the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) has two separate things. Plain Membership means the company pays dues and belongs to the association. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and experience requirements. S&B Roofing is recorded as an RCAT Member. Treat membership as a sign of industry engagement, not as a government licence or a competency exam.
Which manufacturer certifications does S&B actually hold?
Two that can be verified on the manufacturers' own directories. CertainTeed lists the company as a ShingleMaster since 2022, and Owens Corning lists it as a Preferred Contractor (under the name S&B Roofing and Remodeling). Manufacturer credentials matter mainly because they unlock enhanced system warranties that a non-credentialed installer cannot register.
Keller is in Hail Alley. Should I be asking about impact-resistant shingles?
Yes. Tarrant County sits in the North Texas hail corridor and repeat hail is the single biggest driver of roof replacement here. Class 4 impact-resistant shingles are tested to resist a steel ball drop without cracking the mat, and most Texas home insurers offer a premium discount for them. S&B lists impact-resistant shingles among the products it installs. Ask for the specific product name and its UL 2218 Class 4 rating in writing, and ask your insurer what discount that product earns before you sign.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Keller?
Texas has no statewide building code administered by the state, so permitting is set city by city. Keller, like most Tarrant County cities, requires a permit for a full roof replacement. Confirm that your contractor is pulling the permit in its own name rather than asking you to pull an owner permit, because an owner-pulled permit shifts responsibility for the work onto you.
How should I handle a hail insurance claim?
Get your own independent inspection and document the damage with dated photos before you file. S&B offers insurance claims support, which normally means meeting the adjuster on site and supplying scope documentation. A contractor may not negotiate your claim on your behalf as a public adjuster unless separately licensed for that in Texas, and a contractor should never offer to absorb or waive your deductible. That is illegal in Texas.
What should I ask for before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
A current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance sent to you directly by the insurance agent, not a PDF forwarded by the salesperson. Then the exact shingle product and colour, the underlayment and ventilation scope, the workmanship warranty term in years, the manufacturer warranty being registered, who pulls the permit, the payment schedule, and the total price rather than an insurance-proceeds placeholder.
Does S&B work on commercial buildings as well as houses?
Yes. The company lists commercial roofing on its own site and names TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen and metal systems, which are low-slope commercial assemblies. Its BBB profile also lists commercial roofing. For a low-slope building, ask specifically which membrane system is being proposed and what manufacturer warranty is available on it.
How long does a roof replacement take on a typical Keller home?
Most single-family asphalt shingle replacements in North Texas are a one to two day tear-off and install once materials are on site, weather permitting. Scheduling is usually the longer part, especially in the weeks after a large hail event when every roofer in the Metroplex is booked. Ask for a written start window rather than a verbal one.
What is the difference between the workmanship warranty and the manufacturer warranty?
The manufacturer warranty covers defects in the shingle or membrane itself and is issued by CertainTeed, Owens Corning or whichever brand is installed. The workmanship warranty covers installation errors and is issued by the roofer, so it is only as good as the roofer's continued existence. Ask for both in writing, get the manufacturer warranty registration number after the job, and check whether the enhanced system warranty available through the contractor's credential level is actually being purchased for your roof.
