Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0524 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Our family has used Revolutionary Roofing twice since we bought our home and we've had a great experience with them every time. They have a very personal, individualized way of working with you that focuses on quality and the unique needs of your situation. For example, soon after we bought our home we realized that the roof had some leaks at seams that were particularly tricky. Kevin and his team took the time to really listen to our concerns and explain exactly how they planned to address the problem; and it worked great. Years later when we had hail damage from a storm we talked to another company but the contrast with Revolutionary Roofing was night and day. The other guys were pretty dismissive of the problems we'd had in the past and insistent they didn't need to do anything special from any other roof. We went back to Revolutionary Roofing and, as expected, they took care of us again. The bottom line is that, especially with storm damage repair, there is a big difference between going with a statewide "storm chaser" vs a local company that has been in business for years, takes pride in their work, makes sure to stay current on their licensing and training, and values their customers instead of treating them like a number on a spreadsheet. If you're in the Bastrop area, Revolutionary Roofing is a great company to handle your roofing installation or repair.

For your roofing needs, give Revolutionary Roofing a call! Kevin and his team can tackle any challenge thrown at them. We used them to replace a 25+ year old roof on a 120+ year old home. They are innovative in developing proper venting in a home that wasn’t designed for it. They took care of us every step of the way. Top notch service that should be your only choice in roofing!

Kevin has repaired the roof on a couple of properties for us, one residential and one commercial. He and Aaron provide reliable, honest work with integrity at a fair price. Would highly recommend.

We’ve been calling and recommending Revolutionary Roofing for about ten years now and every one who has hired them to work on repairs or installs is happy with their work, including us, of course! Kevin is genuinely a nice guy who is smart, capable, dependable and quotes fair prices. You can’t beat that in a world where contractors often ghost you or price gouge especially for the smaller jobs. We really appreciate Revolutionary Roofing!

Revolutionary Roofing saved our real estate deal! When a home inspector said we needed to repair or replace our roof before selling, our realtor recommended calling Kevin first. He answered the phone on the first ring, and immediately agreed to inspect the roof with our insurance claims adjustor, even though we were on the outskirts of his service area. We were in a time crunch, but Kevin was able to fit our roof in within a week after the insurance company gave the go-ahead, and just days before closing escrow! Kevin and Aaron are a truly professional team. Their communication efforts are second to none. I highly recommend using Revolutionary Roofing when the time comes to repair or replace your roof!

Frequently asked

Is Revolutionary Roofing & Restoration licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofer is, because Texas has no state roofing licence. There is nothing to look up at state level. What you can verify is current general liability and workers compensation insurance direct from the insurer, any City of Bastrop or Bastrop County registration or permit requirement for your job, plus voluntary credentials such as RCAT status, BBB accreditation and manufacturer certification.
What does the GAF certification actually mean?
GAF certified contractors appear in GAF's own directory and are authorised to offer GAF warranty programs on qualifying roof systems. It is a manufacturer program, not a government licence, and GAF has tiers above basic certification. If a specific enhanced warranty matters to you, ask which GAF tier the company currently holds and what warranty it can actually issue on your roof in writing.
How long has the company been roofing?
Sources differ. The BBB record shows the business started on 22 April 2008 after incorporating in June 2003, and the company's own site says more than 15 years in the roofing industry. One page on the site also carries a 'since 1970' line that conflicts with every other source and appears to be leftover template copy. The 2008 start date from the BBB is the most defensible figure.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas offers plain membership, which means paying dues, and a separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) that has its own requirements. The two are not interchangeable, and a roofer who says only 'RCAT' should be asked which one they mean.
Bastrop County gets hail. Are Class 4 shingles worth it?
Often yes. Class 4 impact-resistant shingles are rated to the UL 2218 steel ball test and resist hail bruising better than standard shingles. Many Texas insurers give a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, which can offset part of the extra cost over time. Ask for the specific product and impact class on the quote and check the discount with your own insurer before deciding.
How does the insurance claim process usually go?
You report the damage, your insurer sends an adjuster, and the carrier issues a scope and estimate based on replacement cost less your deductible and any applicable depreciation. A roofer can meet the adjuster and point out damage, but only your insurer decides the claim. In Texas a contractor may not waive, rebate or pay your deductible, so treat any 'we will cover your deductible' offer as a warning sign.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Bastrop?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so it depends on the jurisdiction. A property inside Bastrop city limits follows City of Bastrop permitting, while a property in unincorporated Bastrop County or in Cedar Creek follows that jurisdiction's rules. Ask the contractor to confirm in writing who pulls the permit and whether a final inspection is included.
Does the company do metal roofs?
Yes. Metal roofing is listed as a distinct service alongside shingle work, along with commercial roofing, repair, replacement, inspection and restoration. Metal is a common choice on rural Bastrop County properties for longevity and hail performance, though it costs more up front than an asphalt shingle roof.
What happens if my roof leak damaged the ceiling inside?
The company's stated scope includes repairing interior damage caused by a roof leak, as well as the exterior trades that surround a roof job such as gutters, soffit and fascia carpentry, siding and painting. Get the interior scope written into the same contract rather than agreed verbally, since interior repairs are often handled as a separate line in an insurance estimate.
What should I ask any Bastrop roofer before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer, the exact shingle or metal product and its impact rating, the manufacturer warranty versus the workmanship warranty and what each covers, who pulls the permit, how decking replacement is priced if rot is found, and the payment schedule. Do not pay in full up front, and be cautious with any door-knocker who appears immediately after a hailstorm.
