About

Precision Roof Crafters has been roofing in Houston since 1996 and operates from 3919 Jeanetta Street in southwest Houston, Harris County, with a second office at 500 N Capital of Texas Highway in Austin. It works on both residential and commercial buildings and puts particular emphasis on diagnosing hard-to-find roof leaks and installing more complicated roof systems, including historical restoration work. The service list runs from roof inspections and leak repair through full replacement, roof maintenance, attic ventilation, gutters, patio and balcony repair, roof cleaning and solar shingles. Materials include asphalt shingles, metal, tile and flat or low-slope systems. Coverage reaches across the Houston metro from the Memorial Villages, Bellaire and West University Place out to Katy, Cypress, The Woodlands, Kingwood, Sugar Land, Pearland and Galveston, and separately across the Austin metro from Round Rock and Cedar Park down to San Marcos and Wimberley. Credentials here are unusually well documented. GAF's own contractor directory lists the company as a GAF Master Elite roofer, and Owens Corning's own directory carries a contractor profile for it as a Preferred Contractor. The Better Business Bureau shows an A+ rating with accreditation dating back to 11 August 1997 and a business start date of 16 April 1996. The company is an RCAT Member and also states CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator recognition and Versico Gold Star Applicator status.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I am very satisfied with Precision Roof Crafters. Zach was able to meet with me quickly and assess the issues I was having with my roof. The quote he provided was detailed, reasonable, and easy to understand. The repair was completed much faster than I expected, and the quality of the work was excellent. I appreciate the professionalism and efficiency throughout the entire process. Highly recommend.

Hitch Hike· 3 weeks ago

To give me an estimate they were there early. They're neatly dressed for came in the house he put on hoodies over his boots so not to get anything on the carpet took pictures. Spent probably almost 2 hours here came in the house showed me different type of shingles it went through the warranty process how long will it be before I got an estimate and check to make sure he had my right email. As we had any questions and then he left. Very polite very courteous very professional I would highly recommend!!!!

I initially called Precision Roof Crafters to inquiry about scheduling an appointment to have them come to our residence to check the solar fans that they had installed on our roof last fall. But in talking with the person who answered the phone was told that there probably was no warranty on the fans and didn’t have an option to pay for a regular service appointments. So I decided to schedule a roof inspection to see about having someone come out and check the roof and at the same time they would inspect the solar fans and the seals around the fans.

We had a leak coming in from our bedroom ceiling fan on the 3rd floor of our townhome every time there was a major rain storm. We had a roofing company come out and patch some areas on our roof but that did not resolve our issue as the leaks continued after other major rain storms occurred. Precision Roof Crafters was able to come in and do a thorough test to find out where the leak was coming from (4th floor balcony door). We were quickly added to their schedule to have our repairs completed (door replaced, new flashing, ceiling insulation and ceiling drywall repairs). The work was meticulous and the repair person was on time each day, respectful of our property and thoroughly cleaned up after the repairs were completed. The communication from Precision was excellent as they kept us abreast of all progress during the project. We highly recommend Precision and would definitely use them on any other projects.

I had an excellent experience working with Jon Stockwell from Precision Roof Crafters. Jon was incredibly professional, punctual, and thorough during the roof inspection. He took the time to explain everything clearly, pointed out details I never would have noticed, and provided honest recommendations without any pressure. It’s rare to find someone so knowledgeable and genuinely committed to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Jon and the entire Precision Roof Crafters team to anyone looking for a trustworthy and professional roofing company!

Frequently asked

Does Texas issue a roofing licence, and what can I verify instead?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer has one. The meaningful checks are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, manufacturer certification, RCAT standing, and BBB record. This company is a GAF Master Elite contractor and an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor on those manufacturers' own directories, an RCAT Member, and BBB accredited with an A+ rating since 1997.
What does RCAT Member mean on this listing?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member means the firm has joined and pays dues. It is separate from RCAT's earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which is a distinct qualification. Precision Roof Crafters is recorded here as a Member.
What is GAF Master Elite and why does it matter?
Master Elite is GAF's top factory certification tier, awarded to a limited share of roofers who meet GAF's requirements for licensing where applicable, insurance and reputation. It is the level that allows a contractor to offer GAF's strongest warranty options, including the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty on qualifying roof systems. GAF's own contractor directory lists Precision Roof Crafters at that level.
Which areas does the company cover?
Its service areas page lists the Houston metro including Bellaire, West University Place, the Memorial Villages, Houston Heights, Katy, Cypress, Spring, Tomball, The Woodlands, Kingwood, Sugar Land, Stafford, Richmond, Rosenberg, Pearland, Friendswood, Clear Lake, Pasadena, Magnolia and Galveston, plus an Austin metro list running from Round Rock and Cedar Park to Georgetown, San Marcos and Wimberley.
How long has the company been roofing?
Since 1996. The company says so on its own About page and the BBB record backs it up with a business start date of 16 April 1996, incorporation on 12 May 1997 and BBB accreditation from 11 August 1997.
Does Houston get enough hail to justify impact-resistant shingles?
Houston sees less hail than the Dallas and Fort Worth corridor, but it is not immune and it takes heavy wind and rain. Class 4 impact-resistant shingles still earn a premium discount from many Texas insurers, so it is worth asking your carrier what credit applies and pricing the upgrade against it. On the Gulf side, wind uplift rating and proper fastening usually matter more than impact rating.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Houston?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so this is decided city by city. The City of Houston, Bellaire, West University Place, Katy, Sugar Land and unincorporated Harris County each set their own rules and fees. Ask in writing who pulls the permit, who pays for it and who schedules the inspection.
What warranty comes with the roof?
There are two separate warranties. The manufacturer warranty covers the materials and its enhanced tiers depend on the installer's certification level, which is where Master Elite status matters. The workmanship warranty covers the installation and comes from the contractor. Ask for both in writing, with the term of each stated clearly, before you sign.
Who will actually be on my roof?
The company states that its roofing specialists and crew members are background checked and drug tested. It is still worth asking whether the crew on your job is employed directly or subcontracted, who the on-site supervisor is, and how you reach them during the tear-off.
What should I ask any Texas roofer before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurance agent, not a copy from the salesperson. Get a written scope naming the shingle line, underlayment, flashing and ventilation. Confirm the workmanship warranty term, the permit responsibility, the payment schedule, and that no large deposit is due before materials arrive. If it is a storm claim, confirm the roofer will document damage but not act as your public adjuster, which Texas law does not allow on a roof it will also install.
