About
Fat Matt Roofing is a West Texas roofing company headquartered in Abilene and in business since 2014. Its Odessa office at 2101 N. Grandview Ave., Ste. C serves Odessa, Midland, and the wider Permian Basin, where the company says it has been working since 2017. The Odessa location is a real staffed branch: it has its own BBB profile with an A+ rating, its own Google Business Profile, a dedicated Permian Basin Facebook page, and a Nextdoor page. The office handles residential and commercial roofing, roof repair and replacement, standard and designer shingles, metal roofing, and hail damage repair, with free roof inspections and emergency service. Hail is the dominant roofing risk in the Permian Basin, and hail damage repair is a core advertised service. Fat Matt Roofing is a GAF Master Elite contractor (verified on GAF's contractor directory) and describes itself as a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster. Locally the company notes involvement with the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, the Midland Chamber of Commerce, and the Odessa Board of Realtors.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.
Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0355 or the company name.
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I called on 5/9, Ryan came out on 5/10 to look at the leaks I’m having with every rain (about five places now have been leaking into the house) and said he would call me Monday (5/12) with a quote on sealant to patch up the leaks. I never got a call and between then and 5/30 I’ve called three times, twice a lady said she would have someone call me and the third time I left a voicemail. It’s 6/3 and I still have not heard back. Update several years later- never heard a word from them.
They took excellent care of my client. I am a Realtor @ Starz Realty. Judy helped us and she was amazing. Thank you Fat Matt
