About

Edel Roofing & Construction is an Edinburg-based roofing contractor founded by Eddie Elizondo and, per its website, has been 'Roofing the Valley since 2003'. From its office at 3321 W Alberta Rd, Suite A, the company serves the Rio Grande Valley with residential and commercial roofing, roof repairs, storm damage restoration, remodeling and new construction work, with financing available. The company installs CertainTeed, Owens Corning and GAF roofing products. It is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor with a profile on the Owens Corning contractor directory, and it states that it is the only CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster in the Rio Grande Valley. It has also won local Readers' Choice awards from The Monitor and the Valley Morning Star, as noted on its site. Edel Roofing & Construction has been a BBB Accredited Business since 2015. Texas has no state roofing license, so insurance verification, RCAT status and manufacturer credentials are the practical trust markers. Hidalgo County sees real hurricane-season wind and rain, though it is not one of the first-tier coastal counties where special windstorm certification rules apply.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0489 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I recently had my roof and house trim plus gutters done, I give a a+ on professionalism and great service, I've had several people stop by and compliment the workmanship and ask for company number so I highly recommend edel roofing. ( Owner Eddie ) and lupe are very easy to work with.

Homer Alafa, Jr.· 6 months ago

Edel Roofing and Construction did an excellent job with replacing our roof (all shingles, rotted plywood, rotted boards, etc.). Rollie (project manager) and Eddie (owner) were extremely professional and played a significant role in helping us chose everything we needed (shingle color, trim color, soffit color, etc.). The Edel Roofing and Construction personnel worked effectively and efficiently to get the job done within a few days. We are extremely grateful and satisfied for the professionalism they demonstrated throughout the whole process. Reach out to them to get a free quote! We highly recommend Edel Roofing and Construction for your roofing and /or any remodeling projects! The Alafa Family

Lupe was very helpful regarding my needs and concerns. They replaced roofing in 2 days. Top notch service. No issues. Highly recommended reasonable prices. Upgraded with new attic vents and gutters.

I hired Edel Construction to repair fascia, replace soffit, replace all gutters and to paint all exterior surfaces. First, their estimate was very thorough and covered every aspect of the work we had discussed. When work began with the soffit replacement, I couldn't help but notice the technicians attention to all details. It looked as though they were working on their own homes. Very impressive. The fascia repairs, painting and gutter system was done with the same attention to detail. I am extremely pleased with the work they did. Highly recommend this company for the quality of their work. I highly recommend Edel Roofing and Construction. They were fast, professional, and communicated clearly throughout the entire process. The crew showed up on time, worked efficiently, and the quality of the work came out great. As a Real Estate Agent looking out for their client, my client was very happy with the results. As a real estate professional, it’s important for me to work with vendors I can trust, and Eddie and his team definitely delivered. I highly recommend them to anyone needing roofing work done.

Frequently asked

Does Texas license roofing contractors at the state level?
No. Texas has no state roofing license, so no Edinburg roofer is 'state licensed'. Look instead for proof of insurance, RCAT status, and manufacturer credentials, all of which are voluntary but meaningful checks.
What does RCAT Licensed status mean?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas offers plain membership and a separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential that requires testing, references and vetting. This company appears in the RCAT system under the Licensed category, which is a professional credential from a trade association, not a government license.
Do Rio Grande Valley homes need special windstorm roof certification?
Hidalgo County is not one of the first-tier Texas coastal counties where windstorm inspection certificates tie into windstorm insurance, so those rules generally do not apply in Edinburg or McAllen. Hurricane-season wind still matters, so ask about wind-rated shingles and proper nailing patterns.
Which roofing brands does Edel Roofing & Construction install?
Its website lists CertainTeed, Owens Corning and GAF products, and the company holds Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status. It also states that it is the only CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster in the Rio Grande Valley.
Why do manufacturer credentials matter when picking a roofer?
Credentials like Owens Corning Preferred Contractor or CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster require training, insurance verification and a track record, and they let the contractor offer stronger manufacturer-backed warranties than an uncredentialed installer can.
Will insurance cover storm damage to my Valley roof?
Most Texas homeowners policies cover sudden wind and hail damage, subject to your deductible. Document damage with photos, file promptly, and have your roofer meet the adjuster. Edel advertises storm damage restoration work across the Valley.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Edinburg or McAllen?
Texas has no statewide code enforcement, so permits are handled city by city. Most Valley cities require a permit for reroofing. Confirm with your city's building department and agree in writing on who pulls the permit.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Request a current certificate of insurance sent from the insurer, a written scope with brand and shingle line, warranty terms, local references, and the timeline. In Texas it is illegal for a contractor to offer to waive or absorb your insurance deductible.
Does Edel Roofing & Construction offer financing?
Yes, its website advertises financing options for roof replacements and repairs. Ask for the current terms and lender details when you get your estimate.
How long has this company been in business?
The company's website says it has been roofing the Valley since 2003 under founder Eddie Elizondo, and BBB records show the business started in 2007 and accredited since 2015. Either way it is a long-established local operation rather than a storm-chasing outfit.
