The company's own About page carries an "EST 1994" mark, and the Houston BBB lists the business start date as February 1, 1994. It has been a BBB Accredited Business since June 12, 2014 and currently holds an A+ rating with the BBB. The work spans residential and commercial. On the residential side the company lists roof replacement, repairs, gutter installation using Senox systems, roof restoration and cleaning, and storm damage inspections. It also runs low slope and commercial systems including TPO and EPDM membranes, plus standing seam metal, clay and concrete tile, slate, and custom sheet metal. The BBB profile describes the company as specializing in all types of new and reroof construction along with custom sheet metal and gutter systems. On manufacturer credentials, CertainTeed's own contractor directory shows Cazares Roofing with the ShingleMaster PRO credential, dated to 2004, and the company appears on GAF's contractor directory as a GAF certified contractor, which is the tier that allows the GAF System Plus limited warranty. The company additionally states Owens Corning and Boral tile credentials on its website, which we were not able to confirm on those manufacturers' own directories. The company advertises a 10 year workmanship warranty alongside the manufacturer warranties.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0465 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We could not be more pleased with CJ and his crew. CJ was always on time for our appointments and took the time to walk around the property with us, clearly explaining the roofing components that were needed. I wasn’t very knowledgeable about the roofing industry, but CJ helped me understand the process and learn a great deal. We felt very comfortable moving forward with Cazares Roofing because of how clear, professional, and polite CJ and his team were throughout the entire experience. If I could give Cazares Roofing 10 stars, I would! I would absolutely recommend them to any friends or family looking for roofing services.

I couldn’t be more thrilled with my new roof! Cesar Cazares and his team were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Cesar was extremely polite, knowledgeable, and professional, and I was very impressed with his presentation and communication throughout the process. The crew arrived early in the morning and got straight to work. They carefully covered and protected my plants (I’m very picky about them), which I truly appreciated since that was one of my main concerns. After the job was completed, they walked the property with a magnet to pick up nails, which really showed their attention to detail. I value cleanliness and respect for my home, and they absolutely delivered. I have only great things to say about Cesar and his team and highly recommend them.

I have been a top real estate agent for over 40 years and have known Cazares Roofing for 30 years and would never recommend anyone else. They have also installed our personal roofs over the years and always done a top-notch job - reliable, quality, and reasonably priced.

Frequently asked

Is Cazares Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofer is. Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor license, so nobody in Texas can hold one. What a homeowner can check instead is current general liability and workers compensation insurance, the company's standing with trade bodies such as RCAT, and any city or county registration Houston requires. Cazares Roofing is recorded by RCAT as a Licensed Roofing Contractor, which is RCAT's own earned credential and not a government licence.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
They are two different things and they are easy to confuse. An RCAT Member is a company that pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and continuing requirements. Cazares Roofing is recorded at the Licensed level, which is the higher of the two. Neither one is a government licence.
Is Cazares Roofing accredited by the Better Business Bureau?
Yes. The Houston BBB lists Cazares Roofing and Construction as a BBB Accredited Business since June 12, 2014, with an A+ rating. Ratings and complaint history change over time, so it is worth opening the live BBB profile before you sign anything.
Which manufacturer certifications can actually be verified?
Two. CertainTeed's own contractor directory lists the company at the ShingleMaster PRO level with a credential date of 2004, and GAF's contractor directory lists the company as a GAF certified contractor. The company also names Owens Corning and Boral on its website. Those two we were not able to confirm on the manufacturers' own directories, so treat them as stated by the company.
Why does a manufacturer certification matter?
Certification is what unlocks the extended manufacturer warranties. A GAF certified contractor can register the GAF System Plus limited warranty on a qualifying system, and CertainTeed credentialed contractors can offer CertainTeed's extended coverage. An uncertified installer can fit the same shingle but usually cannot register the same warranty, so ask which specific warranty is being registered and get it in writing.
Does Cazares Roofing handle storm and hail damage claims?
The company lists storm damage inspections among its services. Houston sees both hail and tropical wind and rain events. If you are filing a claim, photograph the damage, keep your own copy of the adjuster's scope, and make sure any contractor gives you a line item estimate you can compare against that scope rather than just a total.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Houston?
They are worth pricing out. Class 4 shingles pass the UL 2218 steel ball impact test and hold up better to hail, which reaches the Houston area even though the worst of Texas hail alley sits further north. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a verified impact resistant roof. Ask your carrier what the discount is for your policy before you pay the upgrade, because it varies a lot.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Houston?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permit and inspection rules are set city by city and county by county. Confirm the current requirement with the City of Houston permitting office for your address. A reputable contractor will pull any required permit in its own name rather than asking the homeowner to do it.
What roofing materials does the company install?
Its services pages list asphalt shingles, clay and concrete tile, slate, standing seam metal, and TPO and EPDM membranes for flat and low slope roofs. It also fabricates custom sheet metal and installs Senox gutter systems.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer rather than a PDF from the contractor. Ask whether the crew is employed or subcontracted and who carries workers compensation. Ask for the specific manufacturer warranty being registered and the length of the workmanship warranty, in writing. Ask who pulls the permit. And never pay the full amount up front.
