About

Bayfront Roofing and Construction is a locally owned roofing and exterior contractor based at 2257 A-1 Hill Rd in Aransas Pass, with a second office at 4646 Corona Dr in Corpus Christi. The company opened in 2017 and is run by Scott Ricks, who grew up in Aransas Pass and still lives there. It handles residential and commercial work across the Coastal Bend, from asphalt shingle and metal re-roofs to TPO, PVC and metal commercial systems, gutters, patio covers, skylights and storm damage restoration. Texas has no state roofing license, so the checks that matter here are insurance, association standing and city registration. Bayfront appears in the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas directory as a member since 2021, and its principal Scott Ricks is listed there with the RCAT CRRL Licensed Roofing Contractor credential under Commercial and Residential Roofing License number 03-0494. The company has also been a BBB Accredited Business since January 2018 with an A+ rating, and it is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which lets it offer Owens Corning Limited Lifetime warranty coverage with a transferable 40 year option. Aransas County is one of the 14 first-tier Gulf Coast counties served by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, so windstorm compliance is a live issue on almost every roof here. Bayfront lists windstorm certification among its services, publishes its own WPI-8 explainer covering the difference between the WPI-8 and WPI-8-E certificates, and states that it works with engineers rather than installing the minimum code-required roofing system.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0494 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We engaged this company for the installation of new siding on our guesthouse, having previously utilized their services for our main residence with satisfactory results. A deposit of $8,000 was provided as requested, with the project slated for completion within five months. However, the company failed to commence work within the agreed timeframe, necessitating repeated follow-up on our part. Ultimately, they opted to engage subcontractors, a decision that unfortunately led to several issues. These included the use of an incorrect color, numerous unpainted areas, and the presence of loose nails in the backyard. Furthermore, during the process of building an internal frame, the contents of a storage cabinet were removed and left exposed. When we requested that these items be returned to the cabinet and the cabinet secured to the new frame, a nail was inadvertently driven into the door of a nearby refrigerator. Consequently, we will not be utilizing their services in the future.

I saw this company years ago roofing a neighbors home and thought they did great work. I had them come out to my 2 story home and it needed a lot of work. I’ve been plagued with roof leaks and siding damage from poor workmanship from other companies. Bayfront came out and did a new roof, new siding, painted, replaced rotted siding, facia, trim, roof decking, and put on new chimney caps. Any issues that came up on the job site were professionally addressed. They did more than I expected! I am beyond impressed and strongly recommend them! I met the inspector and they were transparent and worked on pricing with me. Honestly, the best experience I have ever had with a construction company! John and JC were awesome to work with! They kept the job site clean and wow what a difference it’s made to my home! Its looks brand new! The Live Photo/video feed they use to show you as they work is so cool! Not seen anything done like that before and I felt a part of the process the entire time! Fantastic work Bayfront! Keep it up!

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state roofing license?
No. Texas has no state roofing license, so there is no government-issued roofing credential to look up. The checks that do exist are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, standing with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), and any registration your city requires. Bayfront is listed in the RCAT directory and is a BBB Accredited Business.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
They are not the same thing. Plain membership means a company pays dues and belongs to the association. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through RCAT's own requirements. Bayfront's owner Scott Ricks is listed in the RCAT directory as CRRL, under Commercial and Residential Roofing License number 03-0494.
What is a WPI-8 and do I need one in Aransas Pass?
A WPI-8 is the Texas Department of Insurance windstorm certificate documenting that a structure was built or repaired to windstorm building requirements. If you want Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) wind and hail coverage in one of the 14 first-tier coastal counties, you generally need one. Aransas County is one of those counties, so it applies to roofs in Aransas Pass.
What is the difference between a WPI-8 and a WPI-8-E?
Bayfront's own windstorm certification page explains it this way: the WPI-8 is issued for new and ongoing improvements, while the WPI-8-E is issued for completed improvements. Which one applies depends on whether the work is inspected as it is built or certified after it is finished.
Does Bayfront handle windstorm certification?
Yes. Windstorm certification is listed among its services on both its own site and its BBB profile. The company also states that it works with engineers so roofs exceed windstorm and building code requirements rather than meeting only the minimum.
Who permits and inspects my roof on the Texas coast?
Texas has no single statewide building code enforcement body, so permitting and inspection are handled city by city and county by county. Windstorm certification is a separate track: that inspection is performed for the Texas Department of Insurance, not by your city permit office.
What should I verify before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a current certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer or agent rather than a photocopy, confirm whether employees or subcontractors will be on the roof, get the full scope and the exact materials in writing, and check whether your city requires contractor registration. Be cautious about large deposits requested before materials are delivered.
What roofing materials does Bayfront install?
Its site lists asphalt shingles, metal, stone-coated steel products including Boral Steel and Decra, clay and concrete tile, Spanish tile and wood shake, plus commercial systems in TPO, PVC and metal.
What warranty coverage is available?
Bayfront is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which allows it to offer Owens Corning Limited Lifetime warranty coverage including a transferable 40 year option on qualifying systems. Workmanship terms are separate from the manufacturer warranty, so confirm those in writing on your own contract.
Which Coastal Bend towns does Bayfront serve?
The company publishes service pages for Aransas Pass, Corpus Christi, Rockport, Ingleside, Portland, Taft, Sinton, Gregory, Bayside, Robstown and Holiday Beach, and describes itself as serving Corpus Christi and surrounding areas.
