About

G3 Roofing & Construction is a roofing and restoration contractor based at 200 Mosswood Dr in Argyle, Denton County, serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Owner Matt Alva founded the company after a 15-plus year career as a hospital and healthcare executive, with a stated mission to raise the bar in workmanship, support, and trust in the restoration profession. Its BBB profile records the business as started in January 2023, and it has been BBB accredited since April 2023 with an A+ rating. More than a roofer, G3 positions itself as a full restoration firm: residential and commercial roofing plus storm (hail and wind), water, fire and smoke, and mold work, along with window replacement, remodeling, and exterior services. The leadership team pairs Alva with JD Swenson, a chief operations officer with 14-plus years in construction and real estate development, and Jason Cook, who brings 11-plus years in catastrophic loss resolution. The company states credentials geared to insurance work, including HAAG Master Level inspector, IICRC certifications (AMRT, FSRT, WRT), a TDLR mold remediation contractor license, IAUA certified appraiser and umpire status, and Xactimate Level 3 training. The company operates under a Be Grateful, Be Generous, Be Good philosophy, committing to donate at least 10 percent of earnings to community causes, and states that roof replacements come with complimentary annual maintenance.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0630 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Be careful with anyone that gives you nice discount because they are going to have to cut corners somewhere. You get what you pay for. Just finding this out the hard way. Now the included “lifetime labor warranty” only comes with excuses.

Mr. Gary, owner of 3 G ROOFING has been the best choice for me since 2012! Very responsive & everyone pays close attention to details! It’s now 2025 & they have done so much work for me on my referrals after my 1st project in 2012 & others since then! It’s now time for a new remodel project to be completed by 3/2026! I’m so ready for a surprise for my parent's to be executed!

I have been a 3G Roofing customer since 2021 when my house was hit with hail damage resulting in a $85,000 claim. Gary with 3G was exceptional dealing with the insurance company and getting them to revise their initial estimates, which were low with the insurance trying to repair things that obviously needed replaced. Every repair was completed well and when a subcontractor didn't do something to his standard, Gary had it corrected before I had even noticed anything so that the overall repair was exceptional. Later he replaced a roof at one of my dental office locations. Then he began working on remodel projects as well. 3G added a bedroom and changed a half bath to a full bathroom, remodeled and painted an entire dental office, and then updated paint and did several repairs at a 3rd location. Every project that I have hired 3G, Gary has made sure that it was done to a high quality. His communication with me has been excellent and he is always on top of projects. One of the best things is that a couple times when something needs tweaked after a project is completed, he will make sure it is fixed. Some places disappear on you once payment is complete and you can't get them back to fine tune the minor things. I highly recommend using 3G and have referred friends to 3G, all have said they had good experiences.

I recently had my roof replaced and Gary was great to work with. From the initial assessment of the damage to working with the insurance company to the completion of the work, everything went very smoothly. Gary helped to make sure any questions were answered promptly. The work was done very professionally and they did a great job from the beginning of the job to final cleanup. I would highly recommend 3G Roofing & Construction for any roofing needs. Thanks again for a great job!

In 2018 we received damage from a hail storm. I called 3G Roofing and spoke directly with the owner, Gary. He handled everything from start to finish. I was very impressed with how clean my yard and driveway were when the crew left. They took extra time to ensure every nail and piece of debris was picked up to my satisfaction before they left. The repairs included replacement of the roof and gutters. 3G handled all the repairs which made things easy for me. They are definitely a good choice.

Frequently asked

Is G3 Roofing & Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Texas roofer is state licensed for roofing. G3 holds the RCAT licensed roofing contractor credential, a voluntary program with testing and insurance verification. Separately, the company states it holds a TDLR mold remediation contractor license, which is a real Texas state license for mold work specifically.
What is the difference between RCAT membership and RCAT licensed status?
An RCAT member has joined the trade association; an RCAT licensed roofing contractor has separately passed the association's licensing exam and shown proof of insurance. G3 carries the licensed status, the stronger credential of the two.
How long has G3 been in business?
Its BBB profile records the business as started in January 2023, with BBB accreditation since April 2023 and an A+ rating. The founding team brings longer individual track records in construction, real estate development, and catastrophic loss work.
Does G3 only do roofs?
No. It is a restoration firm handling residential and commercial roofing plus storm, water, fire and smoke, and mold damage, as well as window replacement, remodeling, exterior work, and even seasonal lighting.
Can G3 help with a hail damage insurance claim?
Insurance restoration is the company's core focus, and it states credentials aimed at exactly that: HAAG Master Level inspection training, IAUA appraiser and umpire certification, and Xactimate Level 3 estimating. You still file the claim with your insurer, and it is smart to have the contractor's scope and the adjuster's estimate reconciled in writing before work starts.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in Denton County?
Denton County sits squarely in North Texas hail country, so often yes. Class 4 impact-rated shingles withstand hail better and many Texas insurers discount premiums for them. Ask your insurance agent about the discount and weigh it against the upgrade cost.
What areas does G3 serve?
The company is based in Argyle in Denton County and serves the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Argyle or elsewhere in DFW?
Texas has no statewide building code, so every city in the metroplex sets its own permitting and inspection rules, and unincorporated county areas differ again. Confirm the local requirement before work begins and get in writing who is responsible for the permit.
What are G3's hours and how do I reach them?
Posted hours are weekdays 7am to 6pm and Saturday 7am to noon. The website lists phone (945) 300-9018 and email malva@g3knows.com; the BBB profile also lists (972) 259-0222.
What should I confirm before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for insurance certificates sent directly from the carrier, a written scope with exact materials and warranty terms, references from recent local jobs, and a clear payment schedule. In Texas it is illegal for a contractor to offer to waive or absorb your insurance deductible, so treat any such offer as a red flag.
