About
DT Roofing, LLC is a Hood County roofing contractor headquartered at 5900 East US Hwy 377, Suite 102, Granbury, with satellite offices in Weatherford, Stephenville and Glen Rose. The company's own pages say it has been roofing since 2009 and name Derek Tanner as owner and founder and Randy Hurtado as owner and chief operating officer of the DT Companies. Its BBB file records a business start of 7 May 2007 and incorporation on 4 November 2010, and carries an A+ rating with accreditation since 25 August 2011.
The published work mix is residential and commercial roofing, storm repairs, roof repairs, roof maintenance and free inspections, with construction and remodelling handled through a sister company. On materials the company sells three lines: asphalt shingles, including wind resistant and wind plus storm resistant grades, stone coated steel, and standing metal roofing systems, and it says a DT installed metal roof should last over fifty years. Commercial work has since been spun out into a separate business, DT Commercial Roofing Systems, which trades on its own domain.
On credentials, Owens Corning's own contractor directory lists DT Roofing at Platinum Preferred level, the top tier of the Owens Corning network. The company also displays the FORTIFIED provider mark, membership of The Good Contractors List with its $25,000 backed guarantee, Sam's Club preferred roofer status, a TEK Industries platinum partnership and membership of the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association and the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. It publicises Best of Hood County wins running since 2011 and a Top 100 Roofing Contractors placing.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration
Not checked for GranburyTexas has no state roofing licence, and city rules differ: some require contractor registration, some run a voluntary registry, some neither. Ask this company and your local permit office.
Status Current in the RCAT directory (no published licence number for this record)
RCAT member ID487 (member since 2019)
Licence boardRCAT, Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (Texas issues no state roofing licence; RCAT runs the licensing programme)
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

DT Roofing great to work with. Jacob came out and did a thorough inspection of the roof and listened to me as I explained my concerns. He provided a written quote and included pictures showing the inferior quality work that another company had done. Their price was very reasonable and the quality of their work was great. Jacob came out a couple times and inspected the work after it was completed as well. I’ll definitely use them again if the need arises and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for a friend or family member.

I was so impressed with DT Roofing company. I have previously delt with other roofing companies and always got the feeling they were "trying" to seem caring while they really just cared about the bottom line - Dt Roofing is so different. I had them come out for a free inspection and they really helped me out knowing the rain was coming. I highly recommend this roofing company as you will be impressed!

My roof is fairly new, but we had a hail storm and figured it would be worth having checked. Parker Nelson came out and inspected my roof after a hail storm in Tolar. He provided same day service.
He inspected the roof and informed me that my roof was in good condition with only a few impacts and that I did not need to replace my roof or take action.
Without me having to ask, he even applied sealant to a few areas and provided photos of what he noted on his inspection. I appreciate his time and experience- I will be calling him personally for all my roofing needs!

Justin and DT Roofing made the entire process smooth. It was the best work experience I’ve had in a long time with any service operation. These days, everything seems complicated and full of hassles—but not with Justin or DT Roofing. It was a truly stress-free, seamless experience from start to finish. My house is small in square footage, but they treated it as if it were a high-dollar account, giving it the same care, attention, and respect as any large project.
He carries himself as a godly man, and that character is reflected in the quality of his work and the respect he shows his customers. It’s rare to find someone so skilled and dependable, and I’m grateful for the professionalism and peace of mind he provided throughout the roofing process.
I highly recommend Justin Sherwood and DT Roofing to anyone looking for exceptional service and someone you can truly trust.

Frequently asked
Is DT Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer is state licensed for roofing. What you can check is insurance, manufacturer certification and association standing. The record we hold lists DT Roofing as an RCAT Member, Owens Corning's directory lists it as a Platinum Preferred Contractor, and its BBB file carries an A+ rating with accreditation since 2011. Ask for current general liability and workers compensation certificates before work starts.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas runs two separate things. Membership means the company belongs to the association and pays dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and insurance requirements. They are not interchangeable, and the status we hold for this company is Member.
What does Owens Corning Platinum Preferred mean?
Platinum Preferred is the top tier of Owens Corning's contractor network. Owens Corning limits it to a small share of its roofing contractors and requires standards on workmanship, insurance and customer satisfaction, and it unlocks the strongest Owens Corning system warranties. DT Roofing appears at Platinum Preferred level on Owens Corning's own contractor directory.
Where is DT Roofing based and how far does it travel?
The head office is at 5900 East US Hwy 377, Suite 102, Granbury, TX 76049, with further offices at 204 Santa Fe Dr in Weatherford, 1359 W South Loop in Stephenville and 510 SW Big Bend Trail in Glen Rose. Its own locations page lists work across Hood, Parker, Erath, Johnson and Somervell counties, covering Granbury, Weatherford, Stephenville, Glen Rose, Cleburne, Burleson, Aledo, Dublin and the towns around them.
How long has the company been trading?
The company's own pages say since 2009. Its BBB file records a business start date of 7 May 2007 and incorporation on 4 November 2010, and BBB accreditation from 25 August 2011. So the trading history is roughly seventeen to nineteen years depending on which start point you take.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Hood County?
Hood County sits in the southern reach of the North Texas hail belt, so they are usually worth pricing. A Class 4 shingle passes the UL 2218 steel ball impact test and most Texas insurers offer a premium credit for one. DT Roofing's shingle pages advertise wind resistant and wind plus storm resistant grades, so ask specifically which of those carry a Class 4 impact rating and what your insurer would discount.
What is the FORTIFIED programme?
FORTIFIED is a voluntary construction standard from the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety that hardens a roof against high wind and hail through sealed decking, better fastening and stronger edge detail. It requires an independent evaluator to certify the work. DT Roofing displays the FORTIFIED provider mark on its own site; if you want a FORTIFIED designated roof, ask for the evaluator and the certificate, not just the logo.
Is DT Commercial Roofing Systems the same company?
Not any more. DT Commercial Roofing Systems now operates as a separate limited liability company on its own domain, dtcommercialroofing.com, from the same Granbury address. If your job is a commercial low slope roof, check which of the two entities is actually contracting and named on the paperwork.
Who pulls the permit for a roof replacement around Granbury?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so it is set locally. A roof inside the Granbury city limits is permitted by the city, while a property in unincorporated Hood County or in a development such as Pecan Plantation may follow different rules. Ask the contractor to confirm which authority applies to your address and to pull and close out the permit.
What should be in the written proposal?
The exact shingle or metal product and colour, tear off versus overlay, a decking replacement allowance with a per sheet price, underlayment and flashing detail, ventilation, which manufacturer warranty tier is being registered, cleanup and magnet sweep, the workmanship warranty length, permit responsibility and the payment schedule. If the $25,000 Good Contractors List guarantee is being offered, get the terms in writing rather than relying on the badge.
