About

Done Right Roofing & General Construction is a Milam County roofing contractor with its base at 1647 South US Highway 36 in Milano, Texas. That address is confirmed on the company's own contact page, on its RCAT directory record and on its third party listings, which is how this record is distinguished from the many unrelated companies trading under the very common name Done Right Roofing elsewhere in the country. The RCAT record names Kerry Silvey as the contact, and the BBB file lists Bill Silvey as director, Kerry Silvey as office manager and Joey Hartley as operations manager. The company covers residential and commercial roofing across Central Texas, offering roof replacement, roof repair, new roof installation, roof maintenance and tune ups, roof inspections, storm damage restoration and help with insurance claims. Its Milano pages mention impact resistant shingles as an upgrade option, which is a common choice in this part of the state. Its BBB file, opened under the College Station office at 3206 Longmire Dr Ste A-50, shows the business as accredited since 29 January 2007 with an A+ rating and a start date of 1 January 1999. The company also holds a contractor profile in GAF's own residential contractor directory for Milano, Texas, and states on its site that it is a GAF Master Elite contractor. Milam County is inland, so windstorm certification and WPI-8 do not apply. Hail and wind driven rain are the relevant risks.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

It always bothers me when people exceed expectations because I've become so used to people under-performing. However, I was really glad I called Done Right Roofing when a leak began on my back porch. Bill came out and walked the roof, giving me his opinion on the state of our roof. Overall, it was all good, but his trained eyes found about a 1/8" opening in the caulk where the builder had not fully sealed some flashing. We discussed remedies and because of this I was able to stop the leak myself. He wouldn't charge me for the visit and wouldn't let me pay him for gas used to get here. This was honestly a real opportunity for an unscrupulous roofer to come in and tell me I needed a lot of work. Bill didn't do that. Instead, he came to our home, found the issue and treated us fairly, helping us fix the problem. I was very impressed with him and if we ever actually need roof work, Done Right Roofing will be the only company we call. It's very difficult these days to find anyone of his character and honesty. Thanks to Bill for his time and knowledge, and for treating us right. Well done.

I have used Done Right Roofing for three roofs on three different houses in the past three years. Bill is great to work with and listens to what your needs are, instead of trying to force a one size fits all solution. His crews are great at what they do, everyone knows what to do and how to do it. The site is cleaned up every day and kept neat throughout the job. I have no reservations in recommending them.

Would recommend Bill and Done Right Roofing anytime! Bill was very transparent through the whole process. While doing the roof, I constantly was getting updated pictures of the process. All the workers were friendly, respectful, and answered any questions that were ask of them. Will use them again on my next roof!

We have a steep complex roof, and Bill and his crew could not have done a more meticulous job. They pride themselves in high quality, and they delivered. I have not found a single loose nail and the clean up was the best I've seen after 4 roofs. Bill worked with the insurance company and I did not have any problem with the settlement. Our roof has never been better with hail resistant class 4 shingles. Bill's communication was fantastic, and he always responded immediately to questions so we were never left hanging. I could not recommend this company higher.

Bill and his crew did an amazing job. When I sat down with Bill after he did his on-site walk thru and estimate, he went thru the process and materials they were going to use so there was no question during construction. I was very happy with his estimate and with the roofing system he recommended. I signed off and paid the down payment. A few days later we were expecting rain so called Bill and asked if someone could come over to patch the roof at the leaking vent and he sent over two men that places a temporarily cover on the area. That was very appreciated especially in preventing any interior ceiling damage. When the crew showed up to start work they asked where they could stage their equipment and park their vehicles and once that was estimated they went to work. The crew was very professional and cleaned up after each phase of the job which makes the job site look clean. I had some areas of the roof that had water damage due to the cheap plastic vent covers installed by the original builder. The crew replaced all of the damage decking in excessive of what was estimated at no extra cost. The new lead vent covers that were installed will most likely out live me which gives me peace of mind of having a leak free roof. They did what was quoted, plus some, and did it all in 2 1/2 days and the roof looks amazing. I've had several contractors do work around my place and it's always a hassle dealing with untrustworthy people that say one thing and do another. I've have to waste my time basically to babysitting them to make sure things were done per our agreement. This was not at all the case with Done Right Roofing. I really appreciate their honesty, integrity and professionalism throughout the whole process. Thanks! Done Right Roofing for a great experience and a great product. Tino G

Frequently asked

Is Done Right Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas issues no state roofing licence, so there is no state licence number for any Texas roofer to give you. The checks that do mean something are current insurance, association standing and any city registration your town requires. This company appears in the RCAT directory and is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating. Ask for a certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance sent to you directly by the insurance agency.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
RCAT, the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, runs two separate things. Membership means the company belongs to the association and pays dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through RCAT's own testing and continuing education process. This listing records Done Right Roofing as a Member. Neither one is a government licence, because Texas does not issue one.
How do I make sure I am hiring the Milano company and not another Done Right Roofing?
Done Right Roofing is a very common trading name across the United States, and several unrelated firms use it. The Milam County business is the one at 1647 South US Highway 36, Milano, TX 76556, operating under the domain donerightroofing.net with Bill and Kerry Silvey named on its BBB file. Check the street address and the domain on any quote you receive before you sign anything.
Does Milam County need WPI-8 windstorm certification?
No. WPI-8 certificates and TWIA windstorm insurance apply only to the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties in Texas. Milam County is inland, so a Milano reroof does not require windstorm inspection or certification. The exposures that matter here are hail, wind driven rain and heat.
Should I choose impact resistant shingles in Central Texas?
Central Texas takes regular hail, and Class 4 impact resistant shingles are tested to resist a steel ball impact without fracturing the mat. Most Texas insurers offer a premium credit for a Class 4 roof. Ask your carrier for the exact discount in writing before you decide, then compare it against the upgrade cost over the expected life of the roof.
Do I need a permit to reroof a house in Milano or rural Milam County?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting depends entirely on where the property sits. Small towns and unincorporated county land often have little or no reroof permitting, while nearby cities such as Cameron, Rockdale and College Station run their own processes. Ask your contractor to confirm in writing what the local authority requires and who is responsible for pulling it.
Does the company help with hail and storm insurance claims?
Yes. Storm damage restoration and assistance with insurance claims are listed on the company's own site and on its BBB profile. A contractor can inspect the roof, document damage with photographs and meet your adjuster on site. Under Texas law a roofing contractor cannot act as your public adjuster or negotiate the claim for you unless separately licensed, and cannot lawfully waive or absorb your deductible.
What roofing work does Done Right Roofing take on?
The company lists residential and commercial roofing, roof replacement, roof repair, new installation, roof maintenance and tune ups, roof inspections and storm damage restoration. The registered name also includes general construction, so exterior work beyond the roof may be available. Ask for the exact scope in writing on your proposal.
What should be written into a roofing contract in Texas?
Insist on a written scope that names the shingle line and colour, the underlayment, the ice and water or valley treatment, ventilation, flashing and drip edge, and a stated per sheet price for any rotten decking found once the old roof is off. It should also state the workmanship warranty length, the manufacturer warranty, who pulls the permit, the payment schedule and the clean up and nail sweep commitment.
How long should a new asphalt roof last in Central Texas?
Heat, UV and hail all shorten roof life in this part of the state. Architectural asphalt shingles commonly give 20 to 25 years here when the attic is properly ventilated, less if the roof takes a significant hail hit. Metal systems last longer. Annual or post storm inspections catch small flashing and sealant failures before they turn into decking damage.
