Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Frequently asked
Does Texas require a state roofing license?
No. Texas has no statewide roofing license. Trust is established through insurance, a Better Business Bureau file, and trade association standing such as ABC or RSG membership rather than a state license.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Plain RCAT membership means dues are paid; the separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL/RRL/CRL) is a different, higher bar. No RCAT record turned up for this company in a keyword search; it is instead a stated member of ABC and the Roofing Specialists Guild, which are different organizations.
Does Jefferson County fall under Texas windstorm insurance rules?
Yes. Jefferson County, where Nederland sits, is one of the 14 first-tier Gulf Coast counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association's WPI-8 inspection program.
Is Golden Triangle Roofing Specialists BBB accredited?
No. Its BBB profile explicitly states it is not a BBB accredited business, while separately carrying an A+ BBB rating; the two are not the same thing.
Should I ask about impact-resistant shingles?
Yes. Southeast Texas sees hail and coastal storm exposure, so ask whether Class 4 impact-resistant shingles are available among the Atlas, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, Tamko, IKO, or Malarkey lines this company installs.
Who issues roofing permits in Nederland?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled locally. Confirm with the City of Nederland whether your project needs a permit.
What should I confirm before signing a contract with any roofing company?
Ask for current proof of general liability insurance, a written scope of work with materials specified, and how the warranty is structured, since this company advertises a lifetime warranty on its work.
What roofing materials does Golden Triangle Roofing Specialists install?
Its own site lists shingle lines from Atlas, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, Tamko, IKO, and Malarkey.
What area does Golden Triangle Roofing Specialists serve?
Its own site lists Beaumont, Bridge City, China, Fannett, Groves, Kountze, Lumberton, Mauriceville, Nederland, Orange, Port Arthur, Port Neches, Silsbee, Sour Lake, Vidor, and Winnie.
How can I verify a Golden Triangle roofing company's standing?
Read the company's BBB profile directly, check a Google-attributed rating on an aggregator, and ask for references from recent local jobs, since Texas has no state licensing board to check instead.
