Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Although I wanted to write this review earlier, work travel and the flu delayed me. Coastal Roofing did an outstanding job on my roof. When I noticed a small leak, I called them and Austin inspected the roof. He provided a quote that was actually less than I anticipated. My project was scheduled, and in just a few weeks, I had a new roof. The team was very professional and kept everything clean. They protected the perimeter of my home and our pool thoroughly. The color match was perfect and enhanced our home. I'm extremely pleased with Coastal Roofing's work and highly recommend their services.

I made an appointment to meet with Alec Sonnier from Coastal Roofing at our house He arrived on time, very respectful, he did a complete inspection of my roof, discussed different options and prices, he provided several shingle samples, trim colors and how long it would take to do the job, set up, tarps, stripping the old roofing off and replacing with the new. This new roof is amazing much better than the original roof, better materials and quality. The crew on site did an excellent job and did their best to make sure everything was picked up. Were they the cheapest no but you also get what you pay for, a higher quality roof for just a little more and I am extremely happy with Coastal Roofing from start to finish. Thanks again Alec

If you’re looking for a Roofing Company with great customer service, affordable and very reliable Coastal Roofing is the one for the job, we purchased a property in Beaumont didn’t know much about the area. Just know that we needed a total roof replacement. We had several roofing companies in the area to come out to give an estimate and when Alec from Coastal Roofing came out to take a look and give an estimate. He was very knowledgeable of the products that they sold and provided for customers very patient. Listen to our concerns and made sure everything was met. He came out in December to give is an estimate, I reach back out to him in April asking him could we get an appointment to get the roof done? He politely said yes, Miss Davis me and my company will be happy to assist you with that. I can have somebody come the next day, Long story short we had a complicated roof nevertheless Coastal Roofing was able to take on this difficult roof and the guys done a magnificent job. We barely recognize the house when driving up just know that these guys are very professional. I would definitely recommend this company for your next roofing or construction needs. They get five stars from me. Thanks again. May God continue to bless and grow your business.

I left a bad review last summer, I retract that review and want to leave a new review. The fact is that coastal is a great company and the go to for new roofs or roof repair. I had the wrong roof on my back porch and they came out and installed a new one. Also did a small job on the side. I was having a bad week and regret leave such a horrible review.

Frequently asked

Is the Lumberton Coastal Roofing Specialists the same company as the one in Friendswood?
No. They are two separate businesses that share a name. This one is Coastal Roofing Specialists, Inc. at 1318 Highway 96 South, Lumberton, on (409) 751-5454 at coastalroofingspecialists.com. The other is Coastal Roofing Specialists LLC at 700 S Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, on (281) 312-9121 at coastalroofingtx.com. Different entities, different RCAT records, different BBB files.
Is Coastal Roofing Specialists licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so no Texas roofer holds one. Verify current general liability and workers compensation insurance, check RCAT standing, and confirm the local permit is pulled by the contractor.
What does RCAT Member mean on this listing?
It means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas as a dues paying member. That is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL). This listing records Member status only.
Which county is Lumberton in?
Hardin County, in Southeast Texas just north of Beaumont. The company's own site also names Jefferson and Orange counties among the areas it serves.
How long has the company been trading?
The BBB file records a business start date of 1 January 1980 and BBB accreditation since 1 January 2006. The company's own site refers to more than 50 years of roof repair experience, which appears to describe combined crew experience rather than the company's own age, so treat 1980 as the recorded start.
What kind of storm damage does Southeast Texas produce?
Heavy rainfall, high wind and hail are all in play, and the region takes the outer bands of Gulf systems. Wind lifted or missing shingles, damaged flashing, loose metal panels and leaks around penetrations are the common outcomes. Leaks after a storm should be looked at quickly because decking soaks fast in this climate.
Are impact resistant Class 4 shingles worth considering here?
They can be. Class 4 is the top UL 2218 impact rating and many Texas insurers offer a homeowners premium discount for a documented Class 4 roof. The size of the credit varies by carrier, so ask your own insurer what they allow before you pay the upgrade.
Does the company work on flat commercial roofs?
Yes. Its repair pages cover TPO, modified bitumen and built up systems, including membrane crack repair, seam resealing, ponding water solutions and drainage improvement. BBB categorises the business under commercial, metal and flat roofing as well as general roofing contractors.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Lumberton?
Texas has no statewide code enforcement body, so permitting is handled locally. Roof work in the Lumberton city limits goes through the city, and unincorporated Hardin County has its own rules. Ask the contractor to confirm what is required for your address and to pull the permit under its own name.
What should I ask a Southeast Texas roofer before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent to you directly by the insurance agency. Get the manufacturer warranty and the workmanship warranty separately in writing. Confirm who pulls the permit. Confirm the exact legal company name on the contract, because another Texas roofer trades under an almost identical name. Avoid anyone offering to absorb your deductible, which is not legal in Texas.
